The importance of the senses in cosmetics

The importance of the senses in cosmetics

How many times have we felt like something simply because we have seen it somewhere? Does not it happen to you that there are smells that transport you to places you have already been or that change your mood? And what about the pleasure of feeling a texture that melts into your skin? Today we are going to talk about the importance of the senses in cosmetics. All the organoleptic characteristics of beauty products are important, even the ones you do not think about.

View

With regard to the sense of sight, a product can attract us for various reasons, either because of the packaging or because of the product itself.

The packaging fulfils very important functions in cosmetics, the most basic and at the same time the most important is the protection against impacts and external aggressions such as air, humidity, light… it is also very important because in the packaging we will see what product it is and we will also be able to intuit the values of the brand. Attractive, attractive packaging that invites people to buy often makes us decide on one product or another. We consumers associate a type of packaging with a certain cosmetic, for example, if it is made from recycled materials, we can sense that the brand is aware of the environment.

Moreover, it is also very important to draw the consumer’s attention with radically different novelties, for example, the Scrub & Detox exfoliant from Filorga Laboratories, which is a black exfoliating mask, instead of being white as we are used to.

Heard

ASMR videos on social networks are more fashionable than ever, i.e. videos based on the sound you make when you unscrew a bottle, open a mask or apply a cream to your face. I must admit that I know very little about the subject, but the videos I have seen, the listening pleasure is undeniable.

Smell

This is a very important feature, at least for me. A cosmetic product should have a pleasant smell to make the experience as pleasant as possible. After a good cleaning, I do not think anyone wants to put something that smells unpleasant on their face, do they?

Besides, as I said at the beginning of the post, the smell can transport us to other moments, for example, the smell of the sun we use at the beach, every time we smell it even if it is not summer, it reminds us of it. That is why it is very important to associate smell with “our daily moment”, if a cosmetic manages to get you to associate smell with a moment for you, to take care of yourself and dedicate yourself (even if it is only a couple of minutes a day) that is your product.

Taste

Although a priori the sense of taste seems to have nothing to do with cosmetics, this is not true. Would you use a lipstick or balm that tastes unpleasant? Obviously, in creams or eye contours, the taste is not going to be important but in lip products it is and a lot.

Touch

We have reached the most important meaning in the world of cosmetics. With the touch we will notice the texture of the cosmetics, we will notice the finish they have on our skin, we will feel the cosmetic in question at the moment of application… the moment of application of the different creams and skincare products is the most important moment and the sense of touch plays a major role, we try to make it as pleasant as possible. An oily skin will appreciate a gel texture, for example, and a dry skin will appreciate a more oily texture in order to favour as much as possible the needs of each skin and facilitate the penetration.

Have you ever stopped to think about how important the senses are when choosing cosmetics? Tell me in the comments what is the most important sense for you when choosing one product or another 🙂
