Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier of Skinceuticals

Today we want to talk about this corrective serum with multiple anti-aging benefits that increases the skin’s hyaluronic acid levels. But let us start by the beginning.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in numerous tissues and organs of the human body. One of its most important properties is its ability to attract and retain water, which keeps these tissues in good condition.

Chemically, it is a polysaccharide of the glycosaminoglycan type. This structure is repeated forming more or less long chains, which, due to its negative charges, attracts water molecules.

What are the functions of hyaluronic acid in cosmetics?

We can find different functions depending on the size of the chain. The smaller the chain, the deeper it penetrates into the skin.

The high molecular weight ones (the big ones) stay in the most superficial layers. Therefore, they generate a kind of film that prevents transepidermal water loss, i.e., prevents us from dehydration.

The low molecular weight ones manage to penetrate to deeper layers. This achieves a “plumping” or “filling” effect, as they capture water and make these superficial wrinkles disappear.

What is skinceuticals H.A. Intesifier?

Skinceuticals offers us this serum that will help maintain our hyaluronic acid levels. The brand promises to increase these levels by up to 30%. In addition, it is also recommended for treatment after the application of dermal fillers, to help the injected hyaluronic acid remain in the area longer. It will help us not only with skin hydration but also with those small superficial wrinkles of the skin.

This serum can be used both day and night, both as a serum before the cream and as a pre-serum before our usual serum.

How is skinceuticals H.A. Intesifier?

The serum is a somewhat viscous gel, something that caught our attention, as we are used to lighter textures. But the finish is not sticky at all. In addition, it absorbs quickly, allowing us to apply the following products after use.

What is in skinceuticals H.A. Intesifier?

Let us get down to the nitty-gritty, what are the key ingredients in this serum to make it perform all the functions it promises?

  • Hyaluronic acid: because, the whole post talking about this compound, it obviously has to have it. Moreover, at a remarkably high concentration: 1.3%, hence its high viscosity. INCI: Sodium hyaluronate.
  • Proxylane 10%. It is a patent of the L’oreal group (where Skinceuticals is located). This compound has the function of stimulating the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, and also increases the expression of collagen in our skin. INCI: Hydroxypropyl Tetrahydropyrantriol.
  • 2% licorice root extract and 0.2% purple rice extract: These extracts will help maintain hyaluronic acid. INCI: Dipotassium glycytthizate and Oryza sativa Extract.

Review @inside_cosmetics – Micaela’s opinión.

In my case, it was recommended to me after injecting hyaluronic acid in the under-eye area.

I apply it as a serum to the eye contour area before applying the specific cream for this area. The sensorially is brutal, a viscous gel, but, as I said, not sticky at all. In addition, it absorbs quickly, perfect for express morning routines. I use it morning and night. I notice that the area is moisturized, and I notice that the expression wrinkles in the area are concealed, although dermal fillers have also helped.

The negative points:

  • The smell is not pleasant. Maybe for some it is not important, for me cosmetics should be a tandem between sensoriality, aromatherapy and effectiveness. And in this case, the brand has not given so much importance to the smell.
  • Other point is that if we go crazy in a hurry, as happens to me 90% of the mornings, and we apply it beyond the area where it should be applied and it gets a little in our eyes, it can be slightly irritating. But we must keep in mind that getting it in the eye is not its main function.
  • Another negative point to consider is its price.

Conclusion.

Incorporate a hyaluronic acid serum into your routine if you have skin with slightly marked expression wrinkles or tight skin. For dehydrated skin this active has to be your best friend. You can incorporate it into your daily or nightly routine. If you can afford this one, all the better, but consider other brands on the market.
