Many times when we put on makeup we look favored and other times we feel like we have been 10 years aged. Most of the times it is because we have used a technique or some colours that will age our face and now we are going to discover what we must avoid for this to happen. Here are 10 Make-Up errors that age us.
First of all, I want to clarify that everyone should make up as they like leaving aside fads or rules, this is just some advice to avoid looking older but if someone likes to use any of these tips, here we are not judging anything. LET US START!
TOO MUCH COVERAGE AND MATTE FOUNDATION
A young skin will never be matte, so it takes away from its naturalness and adds to its heaviness. In addition, if it is too covering, it can stay in the folds and mark wrinkles that we didn’t even know we had and it will mark imperfections like blackheads and highlight textures.
For a young look, use a medium or even low coverage base with a juicy finish.
MAKEUP BASE OF A DIFFERENT SHADE THAN YOUR SKIN
Whether it is lighter or darker it will give the appearance of more mature skin. Many times we use one or several darker tones of our skin in the belief that this will make us look darker and, apart from the fact that we don’t fool anyone, we get heavy, loaded skin as a result. On the other hand, if we use a lighter tone than our skin we will get a pale skin without movement.
To get the perfect tone we should not try the colour on our hand, because it will surely have a different tone than our face. We must try it on the chin to see which tone is the best that blends with our skin colour.
USE A VERY MATT CONCEALER
As with the foundation, if we use a matte and very covering concealer, it will mark us with wrinkles under the eye and crow’s feet. To be honest, all concealers will make creases at first, the trick is that once they settle on the skin, they will blur them again and should no longer mark those little wrinkles. To avoid this as much as possible, we should put on a thin layer and use a moisturizing concealer.
APPLY THE BLUSH TOO LOW AND/OR DO NOT BLUR IT WELL
The blush highlights the cheek and if we apply it too low it will give the sensation of a sagging cheek and that will add years to our facial expression. The trick is that when you apply it, smile in front of the mirror and do it gently on the protruding part. It is also very important to blur it well so that no two spots remain on the cheeks and use a color that brings youth such as pink or coral.
DARK EYE SHADOWS
The natural colours will open the eyes and the dark ones, on the contrary they will harden them, therefore they will harden the face features.
DELINEATE THE EYES IN EXCESS OR ONLY THE LOWER EYELID
An excessively thick eyeliner will close the gaze, thus taking away the joviality of our face, although on the contrary, if we make a finite eyeliner, it will open the gaze causing the opposite effect.
On the other hand, using eyeliner only on the lower eyelid will make the eyes smaller and normally small eyes are associated with old people.
STICKY MASCARA
A well-used mascara will lift your eyes and frame them like a frame but there is a danger that if you do not comb them well and they do not stay defined, they will turn your eyes off. Above all, you have to do it well on the lower lashes because if you do not, it will create a shadow under the eyelash and it will look like you have dark circles under the eyes, giving the sensation of a tired look.
THIN AND NOT VERY DEFINED EYEBROWS
Well-defined eyebrows are synonymous with youth. It is inevitable that with the years we will have less crowded eyebrows either because of the depilation for so many years or because they naturally fall off. That is why it is important to use products to have defined, full eyebrows with a colour that matches our hair colour and thus raise our eyes and provide youth. In the case of blond people, the eyebrow colour should be two shades darker and in the case of brown people, it should be two shades lighter.
DARK AND MATT LIPS
Light and natural lips provide volume and juiciness especially if a little gloss is added in the center of the lip. Dark lipstick, like leftover eyes, hardens the features, makes them look smaller and turns the face off (although I know that sometimes it’s inevitable to use a vampy shade or a strong red). Besides, another mistake is not using lip liner, this way lips lose definition, since lipstick can highlight expression wrinkles and if we use eyeliner, it will act as a barrier and the lipstick will not be able to come out because of those little wrinkles.
EXCESS MATIFYING POWDER
We should only use these powders in areas where we tend to get a shine and only if they are necessary, otherwise they will over-matize the skin and make us look older.
By following these small guidelines we will achieve a much more youthful appearance and, of course, we must not forget that make-up must be applied to well hydrated and pampered skin.
