Who has not noticed that you are doing your daily routine and when you put the moisturizer cream on, when you are massaging it, it starts to make “pellets”? There are some reasons, but only two factors can be blamed: either the cream in question or the person who applies it is making a mistake.
What is wrong with my moisturizer cream?
It is a very unpleasant sensation and we usually associate it with the moisturizer cream being bad or expired. In fact, this is one of the options and the first one that comes to mind and we should not rule it out, the product may not be of good quality or the formulation may not be appropriate and produce these little balls.
The reason is that the fatty part of the moisturizer cream is absorbed very quickly and does not give the cream time to “settle” on our skin creating the film. It usually happens in gel type textures and that have some ingredient that creates a film on the skin and especially in dry skins, these textures are absorbed much faster decreasing the time of absorption even more. So the watery part stays on our skin and we keep massaging it and together with the products that form the film, that is what generates those pellets.
Another option is that you have previously put on a product with ingredients that are incompatible with those of the moisturizer cream you have put on.
Normally, cosmetic products are formulated with a watery or oily base and, as we all know, water and oil are not good friends… because exactly the same thing happens with cosmetic products, if we apply a product on top of another of a different and incompatible nature and the first one has not yet been perfectly absorbed by our skin, it is very easy to get these pellets.
Furthermore, there are ingredients such as silicones, iron oxide, mica or talc that will help the pellets to come out more easily.
What if the moisturizer cream is well formulated?
It is also possible that you are applying too much moisturiser or serum. In the case of the serum with one or two pulses would be enough, but as it is a product that is absorbed very quickly, often we put more than the account.
In the case of the cream, the amount would be the equivalent of a chickpea for the whole face and without putting it “sticky” on the face. The ideal is to apply it to your hands, warm it up a little and spread it out by massaging your face (it is important to massage it instead of rubbing it).
In addition, here comes another possible cause for the little shavings to come out, you may be massaging too much, if you massage the face for a long time, when you return to the part that had been previously massaged and the product is not totally seated, you may drag the moisturizer cream again making those little shavings.
So we must apply the right amount and massage enough for the cream to be well absorbed but not too much to avoid this type of reaction.
What else can i do?
And finally, it is possible that your cosmetic is making little balls without you having applied anything underneath, how can that be? Well, it is very simple, your skin is not well prepared.
It is very important to apply the products on clean and dry skin because, as we said before, the cosmetics are formulated with water or oil base and, if for example you have oily skin and it is not well clean and you put a water-based moisturizer cream on top, the result will be an incompatible mixture of water and sebum and will generate these little balls that we do not want.
This can happen exactly the same with makeup, many times we get pellets when applying it and we do not know why it is and these reasons apply to any cosmetic product, not only creams or serums.
Has it ever happened to you that some beauty product has made these annoying shavings? Did you find a solution or did you directly get rid of the product? Tell me all about it in the comments 🙂
