vichy intensive purifying cleansing gel

This gel belongs to the Normaderm range which is focused on oily skin. This cleansing gel not only cleanses but also helps to reduce sebum production and reduces the formation of pimples.

What is it and what do we use it for?

It is a cleansing gel for oily and sensitive skin. Ideal for removing impurities from the skin, blackheads, with a mattifying effect, and helping to control oily or acne-prone skin.

What assets does it hold?

In this product the active ingredients are as important as the rest of the ingredients of a cleanser, among which are the surfactants or surfactants. They are responsible for removing impurities, dirt, and traces of make-up from our skin.

In a cleanser indicated for oily skin, it is very typical to use very effective surfactants that remove absolutely all the sebum, but also take part of the lipid barrier with them. These kinds of cleansers are very effective, but they tend to produce a rebound effect, leading to increased sebum production in the long run and destabilising the skin’s natural barrier.

In this gel, on the other hand, we find different mild but effective surfactants:

Coco-Betaine: is a mild amphoteric surfactant derived from coconut oil. It effectively reduces irritation commonly associated with primary anionic surfactants and is very suitable for low irritation and high foaming products.

Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate: formed from glycine, amino acids, and coconut fatty acids. Forms a creamy lather. This product leaves a fresh feeling on the skin after washing without tightness.

Peg-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate: is an extremely effective non-ionic thickener for hair and skin care products, recommended in shower gels, facial cleansers, and shampoos. Recommended for mild cleansing systems to reduce irritation from surfactants.

In addition to the combination of surfactants, the cleansing gel contains the most effective active ingredients for oily skin:

Zinc salt: acts as a mild astringent and seboregulating agent, helps to tighten pores as well as having antiseptic properties.

Salicylic Acid: is a beta hydroxy acid, used primarily for anti-acne products, it can also serve as an anti-dandruff agent, exfoliant, and skin conditioning agent with keratolytic properties.

Bifida Ferment Lysate: is a probiotic formed from fermenting bifidobacteria with UV protective properties, antioxidant, skin care aid, helps promote the skin’s natural repair mechanism by maintaining the microbiome in good condition.

Copper salt: with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, helps cell regeneration.

Who is it suitable for?

Its composition makes it suitable for sensitive oily skin. In addition, in the efficacy studies that have been carried out we can see that it helps to reduce from the first wash, dirt and pollution (91%), excess sebum (94%). And after continued use (4 weeks) it also helps to improve skin texture (83%) and reduce blemishes (98%).

What is it like?

In a clear gel, which makes a very rich lather, even with hard water.

 Review @inside_cosmetics. Cristina’s opinion

Since I started using it, I have noticed a huge change. Normally, I have to do without gels formulated for oily skin, because they are so aggressive that I end up with a rebound effect, so brutal that it takes me horrors to rebalance my skin again.

I have had a hard time finding a gel for oily skin that does not dry out, dehydrate or leave my skin with a tightness that is unusual for my skin.

I have managed to greatly reduce the overproduction of sebum and with it, I have greatly reduced the shine throughout the day.

I use it on a daily basis, as my skin feels clean but not tight or dry. It is ideal when combined with the serum from the same range, as it leaves the skin perfect for make-up.
