We find new ingredients every year on the market that are starting to sound loud and become a trend in the cosmetic market.
Lately, many cosmetic brands have been bombarding us with new references including the famous “growth factors”. We all rejoice, but can we say that we know exactly what they are?
Growth factors – how to identify them and what are they for?
Growth factors are messenger molecules that act on specific cell surface receptors that initiate a signalling cascade leading to the activation of the skin’s natural repair mechanisms. In other words, they are substances that press the ON button on our mechanisms that cause the skin to repair itself.
There are multiple growth factors, depending on their target, i.e., who they bind to. Below, we list the best known in cosmetics:
- EGF or epidermal growth factor: it is important in the healing of wounds and burns; it regulates inflammation and the action of fibroblasts and stimulates the growth of epithelial cells for tissue repair. They are the most famous and widely used. They have been shown to be able to rejuvenate ageing skin.
- GM- CSF or granulocyte and monocyte colony stimulating factor.
- G-CSF or granulocyte stimulating factor.
- M-CSF or macrophage-stimulating factor.
- IGF-1 or insulin-like factor 1.
With age, growth factors diminish and, therefore, we lose the capacity for repair that we had when we were younger, because do you remember when we fell and got a wound, how quickly it healed?
What is it about Arthouros Alba’s Rhapsody?
The famous formulator and cosmetologist Arthouros Alba could not be less and has incorporated a type of growth factor in his repair cream: specifically, a GM-CSF, capable of accelerating skin re-epithelialisation, healing, and collagen generation. It stimulates the skin’s defences and reduces the inflammatory process.
It is a cream for the skins with the greatest need for repair: those that are dry, damaged, irritated, and dehydrated: an SOS for the skins most in need of help.
Among these growth factors, we can find multiple super-nourishing ingredients such as mango butter, shea butter, and vegetable oils that have long been used for their soothing properties such as camelina oil or rosehip oil, famous for repairing highly damaged areas such as scars.
In addition, there is an ingredient that we are very curious about: croton lechleri resin. The brand’s website says: Epigenetic activity regulating cellular ageing processes. Healing, anti-inflammaging, anti-pollution, improves barrier function and acts as a natural moisturiser.
What is Arthouros Alba’s Rhapsody like?
As you can see in the photo, it is a super nourishing cream. But quickly absorbed with high emollience, it leaves the skin moisturised and very nourished. It is not suitable for people who do not like grease on their skin, because this is what it provides most instantly.
Super pleasant and very sensory smell and a light lilac colour that leaves no one indifferent.
Review @inside_cosmetics. Micaela’s opinion
I consider myself an ultra-fan of this cream. My damaged skin was crying out for help from all sides, and this cream has saved me in about 3 weeks. My skin is different and sighs peacefully: I am finally calm. Highly recommended for dry skin, not for oily skin, it is not for you, although it says on the packaging that it is for dehydrated skin, it is not for everyone, as it adds a lot of oil to the skin, and I know many of you will reject it.
