Many times, we have a wonderful eyeshadow palette, and we cannot wait to get that magazine-worthy smoky look, but it does not look the way we want it to.
The question is, what is wrong, why does not it look the way I want it to? Well, I will tell you that your brushes are partly to blame, I am sure. Today I’ll tell you about the must have brushes for a pro look.
You do not need Natasha Denona’s latest palette, nor do you need to spend a lot of money on shadows to make your make-up look spectacular, you just need to find the right material.
That is why in this article I will reveal which are my favourite brushes for a ten look. To do this we will classify them into blending brushes and brushes to apply product.
Blurring brushes
Let us be honest, it is not easy to make a make-up look that shows how colour fades and fades away. So, let us try to make things easy for ourselves.
To make it easier for me to blend an eyeshadow, my favourite brushes are the small, round, long-haired ones.
On the one hand, its rounded shape will help us to make the shadow fade, and if it has long hair, we will not be able to apply much pressure with the brush and it will look more uniform.
And finally, if it has a small size, it will allow us to be more precise.
What are my must have brushes?
Brush 228 Zoeva
This brush is perfect if you are only blending one or two shadows, as it is quite large. It also has long hairs, which means you do not have to apply too much pressure when blending.
It is perfect for framing the eye and quick blending. For example, I would use it for a basic make-up, applying an earth tone in the eye socket and then a few touches of glitter with the fingertip.
Brush 231 Zoeva
This one is a bit smaller than the previous one, with shorter hairs and a pointed finish, so the blending will be more concentrated and intense.
I usually use it to add a darker shade at the end of the eye, to mark the eye socket or to blend the lower eyelid.
Brush Pro 119 and Brush Pro 222 Burlesque
The pro 119 is that must-have brush that I use for all my make-up. It is smaller and less dense than the 222, which means I can blend very well in very small spaces. The 222 is similar but a bit thicker and fatter, great too but not as precise.
Brushes for applying product
When we want to get the maximum intensity from an eyeshadow, we need a flat brush that concentrates the pigment and leaves as much intensity as possible on the eyelid.
The shorter and thicker the hair is, the more pigment we will be able to fix; on the other hand, if the hair is longer, it will not have strength and therefore the intensity will be lower.
With this type of brushes, we can make a super intense smoky look, leaving a full colour shadow on the mobile eyelid, a blurred eyeliner, smoky lower eyelid… The possibilities are endless.
What are my must have brushes?
Brush 234 Zoeva
This is the one I use the most if I am going to do a dark smoky shadow that covers the entire mobile eyelid.
It is quite large so I can get the job done in a couple of swipes, but for the lower lid or eyeliner I do not find it comfortable because it is not very precise.
237 from Zoeva or 1.1 from Mykitco
Both are quite small and precise. I use them a lot to apply dark shadow at the lash line, either on the upper or lower part of the eye. And also, to apply a shimmery shadow with precision so it is really intense and can be seen from the moon.
Without a doubt the world of brushes has much more to investigate than just this basic summary, but if you are just starting out in the world of make-up, I am sure you will find it useful.
So hopefully the next time you are faced with a smoky look you will be victorious. Let me know if you had all this in mind when you were doing your blending, and which are your must have brushes.
