Mineral Radiance UV

Mineral Radiance UV Defense – Sunscreen with Color

Summer arrives and we start to worry about the sun and the damage it can cause to our skin. Although it is true that sunscreen should be present in our routine throughout the year, whether it is sunny or cloudy, it is now when we consider the ideal sunscreen for our routine.

If it also adds colour without leaving a mask effect, it can be a must-have in our beauty routine.

What is solar radiation and how can we defend ourselves against it?

We receive three types of radiation from the sun on earth: infrared, responsible for giving us the sensation of heat; visible, which allows us to see everything in colour; and ultraviolet, which can cause damage to our skin.

This radiation in turn is classified into UVA, which causes skin pigmentation but also irreversible damage such as the degradation of fundamental components in the structure of the skin and the formation of free radicals; UVB, which causes sunburn when we sunbathe in the wild, and photoaging; and UVC, which we should not worry about because the atmosphere is already protecting us from it.

That is why sunscreens focus on protecting us from the aforementioned: the SPF of a sunscreen or Sun protection factor will indicate how much this product protects us from UVB radiation, the minimum being 6 and the maximum 50+, and the grape symbol in a circle will indicate the protection against UVA, always being 1/3 of the SPF value (i.e., if our sunscreen has SPF30, the protection value against UVA must be at least 10).

Sunscreens can be of two types:

– Chemical or organic filters: these are organic compounds that have a chromophore group that absorbs radiation and changes their chemical structure.

Physical or mineral filters: these are inorganic filters whose mechanism of action is to absorb radiation and also reflect it. This type of filter can be found in large sizes, giving a whitish result when applied and with heavier cosmetic forms (if you use natural cosmetics, you will know what I am talking about as these are the only ones accepted by the certifiers) or in nano format, with a smaller size, easier to formulate giving more pleasant results and lighter textures.

What is Skinceuticals Mineral radiance UV defence?

This Skinceuticals sunscreen contains only mineral filters, in nano format. That is why it has an ultra-light texture, for better application.

The best thing about this sunscreen is that it has colour, but it moulds perfectly to the skin, not leaving a very dark colour as I am very white. As it has a lot of emulsifiers and fatty emulsifiers, it leaves a somewhat oily sensation, with a shine on the skin that we dry skins love, making it not a dry application at all, on the contrary.

What is in Skinceuticals Mineral Radiance UV defence?

As we said, it only contains mineral filters, specifically nano-sized titanium dioxide. It is also enriched with Artemia salina, a plankton extract that complements sun protection by stimulating the skin’s natural defences and resistance to UV rays and heat stress.

Review @inside_cosmetics. Micaela’s opinion

I am loving this sunscreen for my day-to-day life, because, in addition to protecting me from the sun, I am applying light make-up, which is how I like it, leaving my skin luminous, which my dry and dull skin appreciates.

Also, it is not one of those tinted sunscreens that you have to apply carefully. This one allows you to apply the recommended dosage without leaving a mask effect.

Skinceuticals has become my favourite sunscreen brand, as their cosmetics are perfect and very pleasant, which is hard to find and hard to achieve.
