If there is one thing that has caught on and we have welcomed with open arms, from the fashion industry, it is the onslaught of make up clones. For those of you who don’t know the term, it means “taking inspiration” from a much more expensive item and selling it at a popular or affordable price.
We know that Zara has been a forerunner of this trend and season after season we have sold out of runway-inspired, and therefore very succulent, garments and accessories at a price to suit all budgets.
So, it was only a matter of time before this trend became widespread. And beauty addicts have fallen in love with make up clones or dupes. Countless products, be it make-up, skincare, or haircare, have found their twin brothers and sisters, but at a much lower price.
Do not tell me I do not have a sweet tooth: saving money and having real little beauty treasures? I have succumbed to so many that a good clone gives me life!
Below, I will share with you the ones I have discovered over the years and also the ones you cannot miss in your dressing table.
First of all, the brand par excellence that is most inspired by other launches that are not so cheap. This is W7, which you can find in Primor, Maquillalia and other perfumeries…
Judge for yourselves! W7 is a brand that I highly recommend, you can sin with it without fear of being wrong. Good pigmentation, more than decent packaging and a clear inspiration in products that are three times its price. Not bad at all.
Another very good option is to go shopping at Revolution and all its sister brands, there you will find some very top “inspirations”! Also at a very low price.
The ideal way to find good make up clones is to keep up to date with the latest news and launches, there are many accounts on Instagram that are dedicated to it, dupeboss for example and a good source is also Pinterest.
Here are some photos and the name of the corresponding products:
– First of all, a “clone” that for my taste doesn’t correspond 100% but it is a perfect match and with a difference of more than 60€.
Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar palette vs Hollywood bronze&glow by W7
Both are great buys and I have to admit that the W7 bronzer is slightly satiny and looks beautiful on the skin.
– Let us move on to another good save and a more than successful clone. This is the Ambient Lighting Palette from Hourglass vs Holiday Romance from Revolution’s Re-loaded line.
I use all three powders at the same time and it is one of the best I have in my vanity and the Revolution bronzer is so light that I use it as a finishing powder. It seals in my makeup while giving it a healthy, luminous look.
– Another one of finishing powders. We can now get our hands on Guerlain’s famous Meteorites, or rather their finishing powder, for less than €10.
The format of the Revolution ones is in powder form, it is Opalescent, from Revolution Pro’s Skin Finish line and I advise you to get them if you see them available, as they are sold out for half the year.
– And last but not least, I bring you this great clone. It’s the Metallic Strobe Lighting Palette by Hourglass vs Choose your glow by Essence.
If you do not have the Essence one, I do not know what you are waiting for. You can still find it available in Primor, Maquillalia or Druni and I promise you that it will be the best 6€ of your life: pigmented, beautiful, very creamy, comfortable, and cheap.
If you have made it this far, you are champions! And although I have left out some make up clones due to lack of space, I invite you to visit my profile to see them. Anyway, I will try to make a second delivery????
