Last week we looked at how to take care of your skin from your 20s to your 30s, this Sunday we are going to look at the next decade and how to do a skin care in your 30s. In this age group you can already notice the first wrinkles and signs of ageing.
The skin is not as luminous as it was in our 20s and this is starting to show. If we have taken good care of our skin before, we will have come a long way, but if you have not felt the need to start taking care of your skin until now, do not worry, it is never too late! ????
So, how do you do a skin care in your 30s?
What worked for us in our 20s will not work for us in our 30s. At this age we need to start looking after our skin more seriously. As we said in the previous article, prevention is better than cure and the longer we wait, the more we will have to cure rather than prevent.
The steps are basically the same, although the ingredients have been modified a little.
CLEANSING.
The cleansing routine will be the same no matter what age we are, it is a basic and main step in any routine. The only difference is that the products we use must be suitable for our skin type.
Double cleansing with an oil-based product and then another water-based product will remove any remaining dirt on the face, making it easier to apply any serum or cream afterwards.
MASKS.
I am a big fan of face masks; I think they are a perfect moment to take care of ourselves and relax. As our skin is not always the same, we can use different types of masks every week depending on our skin’s needs.
This is a very important step if we want to take care of our skin and give it what it needs at all times, regardless of our daily routine. The brand Apivita, has its express masks, they come in individual sachets and there are masks for all kinds of needs, so I advise you to always have a few to give your skin what it needs.
ANTIOXIDANT SERUM.
At this age, we should start using a serum with more specific active ingredients to provide radiance during the day. Serums with vitamin C, vitamin E and ferulic acid are key to maintaining radiant skin. They are antioxidant ingredients that neutralise free radicals in the skin.
Free radicals (mainly caused by the sun, tobacco, pollution, stress…) will cause premature skin ageing, if you want to know more about this, see the article on free radicals published a few months ago. For good skin care, I recommend trying La Roche Posay’s pure vitamin C serum before your usual moisturiser.
HYDRATING.
We are going to get the hydration to our face with the cream. We will have to adapt the texture to our needs. They must provide hydration without being heavy on the face.
Remember that, throughout the year, our needs change according to the weather and external and internal factors, so we must adapt the moisturising depending on how we feel.
SUNSCREEN.
This step, like cleansing, will be common in ALL routines. As we said last week, sun protection is the best anti-wrinkle product on the market, so depending on how we have our skin, we will choose textures in cream, oil free, mists… there are many options so we can choose the one we like the most.
NIGHT CAR.
At this age we should start using acids and retinoids to prevent wrinkles and smooth and lighten the skin. These types of active ingredients are always used at night unless otherwise indicated by the specialist or in the instructions for use.
We have to introduce them into our routine little by little because they can cause a reaction and reddening of the area (be careful with sensitive skin or skin with rosacea). We will start once or twice a week and increase the number of days as our skin tolerates it. For me it was a brutal change when I started using Neostrata’s high potency R serum. I must warn you that it is powerful and for skin already used to acids.
