We are going to start a saga of articles that are going to go by age range and how to take care of your skin, in this article I will be talking about a skin care in your 20s.
This is very subjective because you can be 45 years old and have the needs of a 30-year-old skin or have a young and punished skin so, be guided more by the age your skin looks than by the age on your id card.
That said, let’s start at the beginning which is young skin and how to care for skin in your 20’s. Take a seat!
How to start a skin care in your 20s.
Your 20s is a good time to start taking care of your skin. there are no signs of ageing yet and starting to take care of your skin early will delay its appearance.
For young skin, the most important thing is to focus on moisturising and cleansing, as it will not have any major needs in general.
Let us look at the basic steps in a routine for a young skin:
1- Cleansing.
This is the most important step if we want to have a well-cared for skin. cleansing the skin is essential for healthy skin that is ready to receive the products we are going to put on it. we should never skip this step, no matter how old we are, every day, morning, and evening.
We have already talked many times about cleansing routines and the ideal is to do a double cleansing, first we get rid of the remains of make-up and grease with an oil or balm and then we clean with an aqueous cleanser (like a gel) the remains of sweat, pollution, dirt…
In this case, you would only have to adapt the products to each skin type, for example, dry skin will appreciate cream cleanser textures, like the cleansing cream from cerave, since I discovered it, I have not used another one. my dry skin always felt tight after cleansing and with this one I feel much more hydrated and comfortable.
After cleansing, we can use a toner to balance the skin’s PH.
2- Exfoliation.
Exfoliation is an optional but highly effective step when we want to take care of our skin. although we do not see it, we have a layer of dead cells on the outermost part of the skin, what we get with exfoliation is to remove that layer and promote cell renewal, thus, we will have much smoother skin, unified and ready to put the treatment.
There are different types of exfoliation, chemical and mechanical. mechanical exfoliation is the one we have always known, in which the product has micro-granules, and we have to massage it into the skin and then remove it. This type of exfoliation should not be done on acne-prone skin with a breakout or on sensitive skin.
There is also chemical peeling and enzymatic peeling (less aggressive). both have active ingredients that remove the layer of dead skin cells. in a few weeks, we will have an article explaining what each of them consists of.
3- Moisturize.
It is the treatment par excellence. young skin will not need active ingredients to combat wrinkles because there really will not be any. This type of skin should focus on creams and serums that contain hyaluronic acid so that the skin cells retain water and thus promote hydration and collagen, which together with elastin are responsible for maintaining the structure of our skin.
This is also the time to start using an eye contour as the skin under the eye is thinner than the rest of the face. here, in addition to moisturising, we can include active ingredients such as caffeine or vitamin k to eliminate bags and darkness under the eyes.
4- Sunscreen.
Finally, this would be the key step to prevent wrinkles and skin ageing. sunscreen every day, whether it is sunny, cloudy, or even if we do not leave the house, is the best anti-ageing product on the market, it is better to be safe than sorry ????. My personal favourite is frezyderm’s, it leaves skin smooth, soft, perfect whether you are going to use make-up or not.
This would be a basic routine for a skin care in your 20s, young skin and without major needs. If you have any doubts, you know you have the comments box ⬇ to contact me????.
