Dull skin, do you know why?. Normally, after the summer, our skin looks worse than the rest of the year. This is normal because it has suffered more aggressions than usual.
Between the sun, the sand, the salt, the change in diet… everything adds up so that in the end, in September we have dull skin.
WHAT IS DULL SKIN?
You may have heard of “dull skin” a lot of times, but what is it really? How can I identify if I have dull skin?
Quite simply, dull skin has lost its natural glow. In some cases, it can look greyer or have texture (you will feel it rough when you touch it). It is very common at this time of year, but it can happen at any time really.
It is more common to notice that our skin is dull at the end of the summer due to the accumulation of free radicals that our skin has generated, but it is not the only cause, stress, the accumulation of dead cells, lifestyle… all this influences when it comes to having a luminous skin.
Now that we know what it is and why we have dull skin, let us see how we can fix it because with just a few tips you will see your skin looking much better in a matter of minutes.
HOW TO BRIGHTEN DULL SKIN
First of all, and as always, the first thing to do is to start with clean skin. We must remove all dirt, make-up, sweat… before proceeding. I always recommend double cleansing.
As a first step, I always recommend Caudalie’s oil and as a second step, I have been trying CeraVe’s foaming cleansing gel for a few weeks now, and I am really liking it, so much that I haven’t used any other product since I bought it.
Also, sometimes in the morning I use it as a single cleansing step and I do not notice that I need anything else, if you want me to tell you a bit more about this product let me know and I will prepare a post exclusively about it. ????
Secondly, you must exfoliate your skin, here you will notice a very clear before and after. Exfoliation will remove the layer of dead skin cells from the outside of your skin, and you will immediately notice that your skin is much softer and more pleasant to the touch.
There are many types of exfoliants and peels, if you have sensitive skin, you should use enzymatic exfoliants that will gradually remove the layer of dead skin cells.
If you have acne-prone skin, you should use chemical exfoliants (AHA’S and BHA’S), and in the case of skin without pathologies, in addition to these chemical exfoliants, you can also use physical exfoliants, which are those that have small granules in their composition.
Here I have two great favourites, the first is Neostrata’s high-power serum R, which should be applied at night and the next morning you will have completely renewed skin (it is a product that you need to become familiar with and start slowly depending on the skin’s tolerance).
And as a physical exfoliator, I have yet to find any other than Filorga’s Scrub&Mask. It has suuuper small granules that don’t irritate practically anything, and it also reacts with the oxygen in the environment making little bubbles and leaving the skin clean, luminous, soft… I haven’t tired of using it for several years now.
Last but not least, we cannot forget to nourish the skin with antioxidants. Antioxidants are the key to neutralising the free radicals that basically make the skin age faster and look worse.
Vitamin C takes the prize in this case, antioxidant, illuminating, anti-ageing… September is a perfect month to start a routine with vitamin C if you do not already have it.
The best product I have tried as an antioxidant is Endocare’s Edafense C ferulic serum. It brightens the skin instantly and contains a cocktail of vitamins and antioxidants that will strengthen your skin and you will notice it from the very first moment.
In my case, as my skin is not so dry now, I have to mattify it sometimes because it is not greasy to the touch, but it can be shiny in some cases, even so, I do not change it.
If you follow these tips, you are sure to notice an improvement in your skin from the very first moment, you will see what a difference.
