My Face Care Routine

Each person has a completely different skin type and needs but everyone should take a minimum of daily care in relation to their skin. It’s important to create a face care routine adapted to the needs of your skin.

In a complete facial routine there are many steps (today we are going to see 7, which are the ones I consider most important, but in Korean routines there are up to 10 different steps) and the first thing I want to make clear is that the only ESSENTIAL ones are the morning and evening cleanse and the morning sunscreen. The rest we will adjust as our skin needs, products and time (and desire) we have, because why deny it, there are people who can not or want to devote 15 minutes to a complete routine and are equally respectable.

The first step is cleansing, as I said before, it is a basic that we must do in the morning and at night. If we are wearing make-up or if we notice that our skin is dirty, the ideal thing to do is to do a double clean with an oil-based cleanser and then a water-based cleanser to remove all kinds of impurities. In my case, I only do the double cleansing at night when I take off my make-up after the whole day, for the mornings I use micellar water and my skin does very well.

The second step is the mask, this step is my zen moment. A mask is a reinforcement of what our skin “asks” of us. We should not always use the same mask but we can choose according to our skin. There are many masks on the market with a lot of purposes, revitalizing, illuminating, cleaning, exfoliating… dare to try the one that your skin needs at all times. Of course, this is not a step you have to follow every day, once or twice a week is enough to keep a beautiful and cared for skin.

The next step is the tonic, which will help us calm the skin after the cleansing and prepare it for the treatment we are going to put on it.

In the middle of the routine we have the eye contour that has to be applied very gently with the middle finger to small touches by the cheekbone and around the eye. Many people only use it on the lower part of the eye but it is meant for the whole circle around the eye.

The fifth step is the serum, a serum is a treatment of rapid absorption and a high concentration of assets (there are for all skin types and needs, anti-wrinkle, moisturizing, antioxidant …) as it is absorbed very quickly does not usually require a massage but small touches with the fingertips to be better absorbed. It also facilitates the passage and serves as a vehicle for the cream to penetrate better. In some cases, the serum can be replaced by a facial oil that is specific to our skin.

The sixth and almost last step is the facial cream, it is the most known and the most important part of the treatment, since all the above has been to prepare the skin to help the cream do its job. A good cream will help us to keep the skin hydrated and will protect it from external agents. There are some that have a specific function (for example to control acne in oily skin) but all of them fulfill the function of protecting the skin and providing hydration and elasticity.

The last step is the sunscreen, this is another step that should be mandatory in the mornings. A good sun protection is the best care we can give to our skin, even if it is cloudy and we think it does not give us the sun, we must use it because the UVA rays do reach us even if it does not seem so. It will prevent photo-aging and delay the appearance of wrinkles.

 

These are the steps that I have adapted to my routine and I try to follow them as much as possible. As I said, the only ones that can not fail are the first and the last one and the rest you can combine them according to your needs, although always following this order.
