Since a few years ago, facial oils have become a staple of our skin care routine for many of us. In this post I am going to try to solve some doubts and eliminate some myths about them, since they make some people not dare to take the step of trying them for fear of getting pimples or oily skin. So, list all the benefits of facial oils on our skin.
To have a perfect result, we have to take into account how our skin is and the function of that using one oil or another.
I would like to clarify that facial oils are NOT essential oils. They are very concentrated and should not be applied directly to the skin, they have therapeutic properties and to use them on the face, we must mix them with other vegetable oils.
Vegetable oils are obtained by cold pressure, since heat would alter their properties, and they are mainly composed of fatty acids. A facial oil is composed of different vegetable and essential oils with different properties to combat several problems at once.
In addition, the textures in oil are going to help us to maintain the skin hydrated, since they are going to create a protective film of the skin that is not going to allow that the water leaves and evaporates and the best thing of this type of formulations is that they display a total affinity with the skin.
There are a lot of ways to use these oils and I a m going to give you some ideas.
- ⇒As a pre-base before makeup: It is a way to give juiciness to makeup bases that are more covering and usually matte, so by applying the oil before the base we get to see the skin more radiant.
- ⇒Instead of the serum: It can be used before the moisturizer for a more intensive treatment.
- ⇒In combination with the moisturizer: When we go to put the cream, we can add a couple of drops of oil especially at times when the skin needs a little more pampering (in cold weather, if we feel the skin more dull)
- ⇒As a cleanser: Natural oils are an ideal choice as a first step in the facial cleansing routine.
Now that we know the uses that can be given to the oil, let us see some of the most common and what benefits we can get according to our skin type.
ARGAN OIL
It has a high concentration of vitamin E, which we already know from its antioxidant and anti-aging capacity.
COCONUT OIL
In recent years it has become well known for its benefits to skin and hair. It can be used to bring softness to our skin and is an excellent cleanser if we are looking for a natural cleanser. Oily skin should be careful with this oil because it can be comedogenic.
ROSEHIP OIL
Known for its regenerating and healing capacity. It helps to repair tissue and will be very beneficial especially for treating acne marks.
OLIVE OIL
Dry and/or sensitive skin will benefit especially from this type of oil. It has a high content of vitamin E and vitamin A to combat aging.
SWEET ALMOND OIL
Highly recommended for mature skins. Its composition is rich in vitamins and minerals and will provide much nutrition to our skin. It is perfect for fighting wrinkles and providing elasticity.
JOJOBA OIL
Recommended for oily skin. It will balance the skin and control the excess of sebum that this type of skin generates, apart from nourishing and moisturizing the face.
SHEA BUTTER
Delays the formation of wrinkles thanks to its moisturizing and nourishing action. It can also be used by men as an after-shave oil to avoid irritation and redness.
It is also widely used in lip balms.
CALENDULA OIL
It is very useful for sensitive skin, has soothing and smoothing properties. It can also be used by the little ones in the house.
TEA TREE OIL
One of the most recommended for oily skin. Refreshes and moisturizes the skin but also has antiseptic properties that visibly improve the appearance of blackheads and pimples.
These are the best known oils and butters but there are many more and with these little explanations you will know what composition of facial oil your skin needs. If you use these or others that I have not mentioned or even if you do not use them and would like to know more about them, tell us in the comments that the MLBeauty community is eager to read to you.
